Southern Cameroons/ Ambazonia, occupies what is being referred to as the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon. Bordered by Nigeria to the west and north, the Atlantic Ocean to the south, and the French-speaking regions of the Republic of Cameroun to the east, the area covers approximately 43,000 square kilometres.
Key features include:
- Major Cities: Bamenda (Northwest Region) and Buea (Southwest Region), both historical and administrative centres of the Southern Cameroonian population.
- Geography: A diverse landscape of mountains, plateaus, and coastal plains, including the volcanic Mount Fako, one of Africa’s tallest peaks.
- Rivers and Lakes: Includes important rivers like the Manyu and Meme, which support agriculture and local communities.
- Borders: Has internationally recognised boundaries that clearly demarcates the Southern Cameroons from the rest of Cameroon, highlighting the distinct linguistic and cultural identity of Southern Cameroons.
- Provinces/Districts: The map typically shows the then seven divisions (now counties) across the two regions: Bui, Boyo, Mezam, Menchum, Momo, Lebialem, Manyu, Fako, Ndian, Koupé-Manengouba, and others.

The Ambazonian National Anthem: “Hail Ambazonia, Land of Glory”
The national anthem of Ambazonia, “Hail Ambazonia, Land of Glory,” was reportedly formally adopted in 2018 by the Interim Government of Ambazonia as a symbol of unity, pride, and the ongoing struggle for independence. Although the author or composer of the anthem is not publicly documented, subject to further investigations, it has become a defining expression of the Ambazonian identity and resilience.
Singing of the Ambazonia Anthem
The anthem honors the heroes of the liberation struggle, invokes divine protection, and celebrates the vision of a free and prosperous Ambazonia. It emphasizes loyalty to the nation and the power of God’s mercy on Ambazonians who have been praying since 1961 when they realized that they had been deceived and taken advantage of, by the bad faith of The Republic of Cameroon.
Sung at official functions, rallies, and ceremonies both inside Ambazonia and across the diaspora, the anthem serves as a unifying force for Ambazonians worldwide, reminding citizens and exiles alike of their shared history, values, and aspirations.
Ambazonian National Anthem — “Hail Ambazonia, Land of Glory”
Hail, hail, hail this land of glory
We the Ambazonians pledge your loyalty
Praise the Son, our Saviour, who granted us our freedom
Allegiance to the heroes who bore the land with their blood
Glory to glory we rise and never to fall
Here in our nation flowing with milk and honey
Glory, glory, glory to the Father
For making you a nation, a joy forevermore
Ambazonia, land of freedom, you shall live in plenty meeting our needs
And your children shall be like the stars above
The Most High God be the Watchman of this Nation
Ambazonia, land of freedom, you shall live in plenty meeting our needs
And your children shall be like the stars above
The Most High God be the Watchman of this Nation
The Ambazonian Flag: A Symbol of Hope and Resistance
The flag of Ambazonia is more than a banner — it is a symbol of identity, and resilience in the ongoing fight for self-determination by the people of the former British Southern Cameroons. The colours have different meanings:
- Blue: Peace, hope, and the aspirations of the people.
- Gold stars: Fertile land, natural resources, and prosperity. Each star represents one of the 13 counties.
- White Dove with Olive Branch: Peace and moral righteousness of the struggle.
Raised at rallies, in exile, and on official occasions, the flag reminds Ambazonians at home and abroad of their shared history, pride, and unwavering commitment to freedom.
